Growing your art will never be easy, but doing it on a microscopic/macro level adds an extra level of complexity.
How can you film, shoot and document complex bacteria growth for long periods during a global lockdown? We needed to use all of our creative production savvy and shoot this campaign in one of our satellite studios just outside London.
Bacteria wrangling was undoubtedly a new skill for us; however, when this great idea appeared, we just had to put on our biochemist hat and start exploring and growing some bacteria cultures.
This was always going to be an interesting R&D project, especially as controlling life is never easy. After many failed attempts and a lot of trial and error, we found a fool-proof solution to grow and shoot beautifully unique cultures that could develop into any shape. Every shot had its charm, and no two letters were the same. The result was a practical, homegrown solution full of happy accidents which we were all very proud to have made.
